The Carol Hill Bursary for Science & Mathematics
Carol Hill has been a dedicated Elementary Educator and Principal at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board for 28 years. She began her teaching career as an Intermediate Science teacher with the Carleton Board of Education in 1987. She held a variety of teaching positions before her promotion to Vice-Principal in the new Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in 1998 and then to Principal where she has been an exemplary leader of elementary schools.
Carol’s commitment to her staff, students, communities and colleagues is evident in the high regard in which she is held. Her integrity, care, compassion, and ability to empower others to grow and develop confidence are the hallmarks of her leadership. Her brilliant analytical skills have been called upon in a variety of ways for district projects. Carol has always been generous with sharing her gifts in the service of others and is a highly respected and admired administrator in the district.
Carol is a champion of Science and Mathematics education and believes passionately that active engagement with the concepts in these areas is the key to sparking the imagination and curiousity of students. It has always been Carol’s wish to support experiential learning opportunities in order to develop a strong foundation in Science and Mathematics and to encourage students to discover, investigate, experiment and explore. Her passion for kinesthetic learning and belief that all students benefit from cultivating their natural curiosity has been steadfast throughout her career in education.
Purpose of the Bursary
The Carol Hill Bursary is designed to support the Science and Mathematics curriculum by providing students, specifically in OCDSB elementary schools with limited capability to provide enhanced learning experiences, the opportunity for hands on, experiential programming.
